In addition to the upgrade of image processing capabilities, the Huawei Mate 40 series will also introduce the new generation of Kirin processors. Previously, it was revealed that the next generation of Kirin’s flagship processor, code-named “Baltimore”, will not only use TSMC’s 5nm process, but it is rumored that both CPU and GPU will be greatly improved.

TSMC has two versions of N5 and N5P at 5nm. The performance of N5 is 15% higher than that of 7nm, the power consumption is reduced by 30%, and the crystal density is increased by 80%. The performance of N5P is 7% stronger than N5, and the power consumption is reduced by 15% again.

It is reported that the CPU part of Kirin 1020 is based on Cortex A77 or even A78, and its performance has increased by as much as 50% year-on-year.

According to the news, the Kirin 1020 chip is expected to ship in large-scale in August this year, when Huawei may hold a new product launch in September.
